The Logo

The Festival logo was designed by Mapee Singson and uses the sarimanok as the main concept for the festival’s visual identity. The image of the sarimanok, the famed mythical bird ubiquitous in Maranao art, unifies the festival logo as a whole and its various components. Reflecting the thrust of the festival as a musical gathering, the body of the sarimanok is shaped as a stringed instrument, using the 14 strings of the Philippine bandurria as a design element. The sound hole is transformed into an image of the world, denoting the global reach of the festival, and the rosette is an image of people holding hands in unity. All in all, the logo visually conveys the hope of the organization that the festival will be a means of promoting peace and unity through a globally shared musical tradition.
